Job Description

Supervisory:

  • Oversee all day-to-day operations, staff, including customer interactions and problem resolution in respective area.
  • Assure department compliance with accreditation, legal, regulatory and safety requirements, formulate and review policies and procedures related to evaluation, selection and therapeutic use of medication and devices.
  • Ensure appropriate downtime procedures are followed.
    Pharmaceutical Operations:
  • Ensure that drug items are appropriately billed to various areas or patients to promote financial viability of the hospital.
  • Ensure that pharmacy inventory is maintained at appropriate levels in a cost-conscious manner to promote availability of items on the formulary.
  • Keep accurate records of inventory, patient information, and insurance claims.
  • Operate and maintain Pharmacy software systems and automation robot functionality.
  • Responsible for ensuring dept compliance with accreditation, legal, regulatory & safety requirements
  • Adhere to state and DEA requirements for narcotic record transmissions
  • Maintain prescription files and records according to state regulations
  • Maximize work efficiency with computerized/automated programs
  • Develops and Maintains Antimicrobial Stewardship Policy and Procedures
  • Serves on the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee as co-leader.

    Clinical:
  • Prepare drugs and execute prescription orders for collection or delivery.
  • Enforce best practice protocols when storing prescription drugs and controlled substances
  • Maintaining an approved drug and controlled substances list and verifying expiry dates
  • Adhere to state and DEA requirements for narcotic record transmissions
  • Maintain prescription files and records according to state regulations.
  • Monitors and manages drug therapy in designated patient population
  • Develops care plans/guidelines to include drug, devices and delivery modalities
  • Assists in prevention, detection, and resolution of medicine abuse

    Job Knowledge
  • Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy;
  • Licensed to practice by Mississippi State Board of Pharmacy
  • 5-8 years’ experience in pharmacy or related field; preferred.
  • 3 years of management experience; preferred.
  • Ability to appropriately provide pharmaceutical care services to population ranging from infant to geriatric.
  • Excellent organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills required.
