JOB SUMMARY
The Supervisor - Nursing at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating the quality of nursing care provided to patients, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory standards. They utilize the nursing process, respond to critical incidents, and oversee departmental services to maintain a professional and efficient environment. As a supervisor, this role oversees and guides a team of employees to ensure efficient task completion, promoting teamwork and effective coordination.
JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Plans directs, coordinates and evaluates quality of nursing care rendered to customers in accordance with hospital policies/procedures and criterion established various legal and regulatory accrediting bodies.
  • Utilizes nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care.
  • Responds immediately/appropriately to potentially life threatening incidents and operates all equipment in the patient care setting including but not limited to heart monitors, defibrillators, pacemaker, ventilator, pulse oximeter, non-invasive blood pressure monitor, and Doppler to implement emergency action indicated by patient’s conditions.
  • Manages/oversees that departmental services are performed in a timely, efficient, cost-effective, confidential, professional manner conducive with the overall mission/vision of the hospital.
  • Promotes and enforces departmental compliance with departmental policies/procedures, general safety, fire safety, emergency preparedness, and infection control standards.
  • Assists with orientation/in-service, attends, demonstrate, and participate in required in-service, performance improvement activities (including EXCEL) and other educational programs.
  • Reliable attendance at work is essential for this job.



    QUALIFICATIONS


    Education
  •  Associate's Degree To fulfill the requirements of this position, the incumbent must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Required

    Licenses and Certifications
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure
  • ABLS - Advanced Burn Life Support
  • ACLS
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation

    Work Experience
  • 1-3 years. At least one-year experience in Medical/Surgical nursing. Required
  • . Previous supervisory experience in Medical setting. Preferred

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Good communication sills highly desired to effectively communicate with inter and intra departmental.
  • Employees, physicians and their office personnel and public.
  • The incumbent must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills needed to proficiently provide care to a patient population to include : infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics none year minimum
  • This position has the primary accountability for planning, directing, coordinating and evaluating quality nursing service to customers, utilizing nursing process to assess, develop plan of care, implement, evaluate and document same for assigned patient;
  • Responding immediately/appropriately to changes in patient’s condition
  • Communicating findings to patient, family, attending physician, and other hospital departments involved in treating the patient;
  • Serving as “role Model’ while promoting, enforcing, and adhering to organizations policies/procedures and employee guideline;
  • And performing responsibilities in a timely, efficient cost effective, confidential professional manner conducive with the overall mission/vision of the hospital
  • The incumbent will have extensive contact with inter and intra departmental personnel, physicians and their office personnel and public.
  • It is imperative that he/she have good communication skills and reflect a positive, caring attitude toward both staff and public.
  • The incumbent shall recruit, orient, evaluate, schedule , coach, and implement training programs for subordinates in order to foster competent, committed departmental employees.
